KOOLTRAK
temperature data loggers are about the size of a button cell, and self-powered by an
internal lithium cell with a 10-year life. They record temperature in the range between
-40 and +85°C (-20 to +185°F), and store 2048 individual measurements.
The interval between measurements can set between one minute and several hours, and recording can be automatically started at a chosen future time. Data loggers are sealed in a robust stainless steel housing, and are easily mounted on or in the object being measured. . |
KOOLTRAK
is therefore the ideal system for temperature monitoring during transport of
sensitive materials and foodstuffs, for monitoring building heating and cooling systems,
for monitoring temperature in restricted places such as bearings on machinery, for
monitoring animal living conditions, for temperature logging in ponds and streams, and so
on. And because the data logger is small, self-powered and low cost, it is easy to use
strings of them to measure temperature gradients.

Logger data collected using a PocketPC or laptop is easily transferred to a desktop PC
running the
KOOLTRAK
database software by serial cable, modem, infra-red, mobile phone or docking station.
With a GSM/PCS mobile telephone the data transfer is particularly fast and efficient, and logger data can be transferred back to the database system from anywhere the phone network is available. The KOOLTRAK connection cable consists of an interface plug for the PC serial port, and mating spiral cable with a connector for the data logger. No plug-in card or other special hardware is required.

The software is modular, easy to understand, and runs under the Windows 98, Windows NT
and WindowsCE operating systems. Installation is in most cases automatic, and takes only
a few clicks of the mouse.
Temperature data collected using the KOOLPAD PocketPC data collection software is transferred to the database software running on a PC. There it is processed and stored in an MS-Access database. Data from each logger stored in the database is identified by the name of the location where it is physically installed. Each measured value is marked with the logger identification and the measurement time. Overlapping data points due to multiple readings of a logger are resolved. |
The wide range of
KOOLTRAK
display functions allow the data to be displayed in many ways. Alarm limits can be marked
on the display, the time span and the temperature scale controlled, and the data can be
processed to generate maximums, minimums and averages. Screen data-loggers-img can be
exported to the clipboard or printed directly.
Convenient functions transfer selected data directly into Excel, Word, Access or HTML for further processing or report generation, and tables and graphs are easily generated. HTML reports can be directly transferred over the internet and displayed with a standard browser. The software includes built-in backup functions, to make it easy to safely store critical data. |
The
KOOLPAGE
program uses ActiveX to produce dynamic graphs showing data as it is accumulated from
selected loggers. The number and identity of loggers tracked, and all parameters of the
active display program, can be controlled.
ActiveX allows these features to be incorporated as an OCX in other programs, or in HTML pages. In this way, a computer connected to the local network can use a normal browser to scan data as it is accumulated in the KOOLTRAK database, and update a graph which summarizes that data and if needed produces alarms. Using this feature a safety controller, for example, could receive an immediate visible and audible alarm whenever the database received out-of-limits temperature data from any monitored location anywhere in the world. |
